Hi Brother of SIFORS (BoS), I'm Fachradina Yuniar, a first batch student of Undiksha's Information Systems Study Program. In this article, I would like to share my experiences and tips regarding the Certified Student Internship Program or commonly known as PMMB. PMMB itself is a program of the Indonesian Human Capital Forum (FHCI) which provides an opportunity for students to experience the atmosphere of working in the state-owned enterprises (Badan Usaha Milik Negara / BUMN) industry for six months. We will implement the knowledge that we have learned in the study program in the industrial world through this PMMB activity. In fact, we will also get a variety of new knowledge, relationships, and work experience that can hone our hard skills and soft skills. The Certified Student Internship Program (PMMB) consists of two types of programs, namely:
- Industry Certified Internship. In this program, students will carry out internship activities according to the project given by the industry for six months. Interns will get an industry certificate if they have completed the internship in accordance with the specified time and have completed the project given by the industry.
- Competency Certified Internship. In this program, students will carry out internship activities in accordance with the field competencies (positions) that are a requirement to occupy the position for six months. Interns will carry out competency tests in accordance with field competencies at the end of the internship activities carried out by the National Professional Certification Institute.
In PMMB batch 1 in 2021, I participated in the Industrial Certified Internship program for six months at one of the BUMNs, namely PT. Pelabuhan Indonesia III (Persero) Tanjung Wangi Branch, East Java. I am not alone doing PMMB internship at PT. Pelindo III. I was accompanied by an environmental engineering student from Airlangga University who passed the PMMB batch 1 selection in 2021. I learned many things during my internship at PT. Pelindo III. During my internship, I was accompanied by a mentor whose job was to monitor the performance I did during the apprenticeship process as well as to provide direction if I experienced confusion during the internship. The knowledge that I get in the study program can be implemented during the internship. In my internship, I was taught to use SAP (Systems Applications and Products) applications. SAP itself is enterprise resource planning software or commonly known as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP). In addition, I was also taught related to corporate IT governance, port service business processes, port IoT concepts, application systems supporting operational activities, the importance of big data in companies, and corporate work culture through Leader Talk activities and on-the-job training. Before starting work, I and several other employees checked their own health condition (Fit to Work) and conducted a briefing to equalize perceptions between one member and another in order to complete the work according to a common goal. My friends and I not only work in the office, but also carry out patrols with Pelindo employees accompanied by security officers in the port area to find out the port service business processes, conditions and problems around the port area. Every two months of apprenticeship activities there is a performance assessment from the mentor and in the middle of the month of apprenticeship I participate in a performance assessment from the central Pelindo in the form of interviews related to what I have done during the apprenticeship process and take a psychotest. In addition, at the end of the apprenticeship period I also participated in E-Test activities. In this E-Test activity, every student who undergoes the PMMB program at PT. Pelindo III must make a project in the form of a technological innovation design for the company. The project will be presented in front of two examiners and one mentor as one of the requirements to pass an industrial certified internship at PT. Pelindo III. Thank God I was able to complete the project on time and graduated with satisfactory grades. The benefit that I got while participating in this internship was that I could learn many new things that could increase my knowledge and develop capabilities through the experience I gained in the BUMN industry. By participating in this PMMB, I can get to know the culture or work environment in the industry, especially the BUMN environment. In addition, I also get pocket money for participating in apprenticeship activities and get an industry certificate which can be useful for my future career.
The workings of the Certified Student Internship Program (PMMB) itself is based on my experience and also sources from the website pmmb.fhcibumn.com which Brother of SIFORS (BoS) needs to know in order to prepare themselves for BoS who are interested in participating in PMMB activities in the next batch. which are as follows:
- First, BUMN will send the required number of internship positions to the Indonesian Human Capital Forum (FHCI).
- Furthermore, the university prepares data on the availability of student internships to be submitted to the Indonesian Human Capital Forum (FHCI).
- The Indonesian Human Capital Forum (FHCI) matches up the need for internship positions from BUMN with the availability of internship students from universities.
- Then the BUMN conducts a selection of internship students.
- Students who have passed the selection will carry out an internship for six months in BUMN.
- Furthermore, students who have completed internship activities in accordance with the specified time and have completed projects and or competency exams will receive Industrial Certification (by BUMN) and or Competency Certification (by BNSP).
Tips that I can share with the Brothers of SIFORS (BoS) based on my experience in order to pass the Certified Student Internship Program (PMMB) are:
- First, prepare a good and correct CV (Curriculum Vitae), because CV is the first thing that will represent who you are in front of the selectors.
- Next, you must find out whether the information on the needs or criteria for the participants from each BUMN you want to go to is in accordance with the qualifications of your CV.
- Never be ashamed to ask your seniors who have participated in the PMMB program in the previous batch. Get as much information as possible from them and if necessary, join the group provided by UPT. PKKM (Career Development and Student Entrepreneurship) Undiksha to monitor information updates about the PMMB program.
- After you know the information on the needs or criteria for the participants from each BUMN that you want to go to, you must prepare yourself to take the selection test that will be carried out by each BUMN. Fyi, each BUMN has its own policy in selecting PMMB participants (some are conducting interview tests, competency and skill tests, etc.) therefore it is important to dig up information first to previous level seniors to better prepare themselves.
- After you have done the first to fourth tips, the next thing you can do is pray to God Almighty and continue to spread kindness to others, because God will always make it easier for someone who always helps his fellow brothers and sisters.
So many stories of experiences and tips that I can share with Brother of SIFORS (BoS), see you in my next article.
